CONSULTANCY SERVICES
Al Safsafa delivers bespoke consultancy services to meet clients’ needs, inclusive of the range of mine action services it delivers and commensurate with global technical expertise and experience. Specialising in Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) consultancy services includes all land and marine capabilities, all forms of survey, reactive advisory services and safeguarding.
Quality Assurance & Quality Control (QA/QC)
Al Safsafa has become the premier expert in delivery of QA/QC consultancy services in Iraq. Accredited to international and national standards it has grown a reputation for offering the highest quality, reliable, independent reassurance to both its clients and to the national authority, ensuring that quality services are delivered across the mine action community in Iraq.
CLEARANCE SERVICES
Al Safsafa clears areas and paths through unsafe, contaminated environments – on land and in water – for clients including oil, gas, mining and construction companies, and large supranational organizations; clearing sites of unexploded ordnance, waterways of explosive remnants of war, and international lands of mines and improvised explosive devices (IEDs)
- Battle Area Clearance (BAC)
BAC involves the search, location, neutralization and disposal of ERW including post-conflict battlefield areas: offensive strike sites and defensive positions in urban and rural areas. Clearance can be conducted manually and mechanically.
- Offshore UXO Clearance
We use highly trained staff with specialist knowledge in diving and UXO operations in these environments to identify, neutralize and dispose of UXO in the offshore environment.
- Improvised Explosive Device (IED) Clearance
Clearance of IEDs is often the most challenging and has proliferated in recent conflict as the preferred weapon of choice for terror organizations. IED Clearance requires precise survey to locate and specialist intervention to neutralize and dispose. Clearance is almost always conducted manually but mechanical clearance can be used in certain environments
- Mine Clearance
Mine clearance involves the identification, location, neutralization and disposal of landmines (anti-vehicle and ani-personnel), usually in post conflict battle minefields – this can be conducted manually or with mechanical support dependent on the terrain.
SURVEY SERVICES
Al Safsafa uniquely delivers the full spectrum of Survey services – terrestrial and offshore – detecting, identifying and locating all forms of explosive hazards:
- Technical Survey (TS)
Technical Survey follows Non-Technical Survey and refers to the collection and analysis of data using technical interventions, about the specifications, proliferation, surrounding terrain of explosive contamination and component elements. Technical Survey enables neutralization and clearance of explosive hazards.
- Non-Technical Survey (NTS)
Non-Technical Survey is the collection and analysis of data, without technical interventions, about the presence or absence, type, distribution and location of mine/ERW contamination and to support land release prioritization and decision-making processes through the provision of evidence. Non-technical surveys can include the analysis of maps, interviews with local people, authorities and military representatives and the use of global resources such as the information management system for mine action.
- Unexploded Ordnance Geophysical Survey
Non-Technical Survey is the collection and analysis of data, without technical interventions, about the presence or absence, type, distribution and location of mine/ERW contamination and to support land release prioritization and decision-making processes through the provision of evidence. Non-technical surveys can include the analysis of maps, interviews with local people, authorities and military representatives and the use of global resources such as the information management system for mine action.
- Unexploded Ordnance Geophysical Survey
Offshore and intertidal survey for unexploded ordnance and other explosive hazards, utilising the latest technologies and equipment and employing highly-technically-skilled marine professionals; and delivering rapid, accurate and reliable survey data – processed, interpreted and assessed by our in-house geophysicist and explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) teams.
- Intrusive Detection
For depth unexploded threats. Intrusive survey is conducted using our bespoke detection system and software, rapidly and accurately detecting and locating buried ferrous objects – both on land or under water and does so to the maximum assessed bomb penetration depth
- Non-Intrusive Surveys
Application of a variety of non-intrusive survey technologies and systems; some unique to Al Safsafa; to achieve reliable detection, dependent type and depth of buried ferrous objects and unexploded ordnance (UXO), ground conditions and the depth of clearance required.
